Make Light Calcium Carbonate Crystal
Tai Yang Industry and the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) have joined hands to achieve an innovative breakthrough in the production of light calcium carbonate using patented technology. In this project, we employ the super-gravity carbonation system reaction technology, taking full advantage of its strengths to manufacture hollow micron-sized light calcium carbonate in a unique and highly efficient manner.

Pearltide Extraction
The innermost layer of the oyster shell is known as the pearl layer, which has a composition very similar to that of pearls. “Pearltide®” is a precious ingredient extracted from the pearl layer of oyster shells.
Features
Effectively inhibits melanin production and weakens tyrosinase activity
Has the ability to repair epidermal cells damaged by UVA exposure, providing protection
Effectively promotes the formation of pro-collagen and suppresses the expression of collagen-degrading enzyme MMP-1
Benefits of Carbon Reduction
For every 100 grams of calcium carbonate produced, 44 grams of carbon dioxide are absorbed. In addition, calcium carbonate, as an inorganic mineral, has extremely high stability in the natural environment. Therefore, oyster shells generated from oyster farming have the added value of natural, stable, and long-term carbon dioxide sequestration. The estimated rate of carbon dioxide sequestration by oyster farming in Taiwan is roughly 140 times that of tree planting.
Applications of High Economic Value Products
Oyster shell regeneration technology transforms oyster shells into high-quality Precipitated Calcium Carbonate, widely used in industries like plastics, beauty, and more. It serves as a key ingredient in various products, including plastic pipes, bottles, footwear, beauty items like foundation and lipstick, and skincare products like sunscreen and facial cleansers. “Pearltide®,” extracted from oyster shells, contributes brightening, repairing, and anti-aging effects to skincare, bath, and cosmetic items. This approach maximizes oyster shell use, maintaining a balance between economic and ecological considerations.
